This is the debut album from the New York based pop-punk band Halcyon. The definition of the word ‘Halcyon’ is: “denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.” I chose this name because I believe it is reflective of the genre in looking back/forward to better days. The theme of the album is: in direct contrast to this, the unavoidable and unreasonable effects of natural disasters and comparing these to emotions felt and events in everyday life. This means that the mood of the album is modestly quite sad yet still remaining optimistic. When creating the imagery for the album cover I will ensure to keep these characteristics in mind by creating a dramatic scene of a natural disaster using cartoon like graphics and dull colouring.
